Der Steppenwolf

Tal como lo afirma el señor jsorel usualmente paso el tiempo escuchando viejeras… (Llámese viejera a discos publicados hace más de 3 años, llegando hasta las primeras grabaciones que se consiguen en los compilados de blues o jazz, como por ejemplo el Maple Leaf Rag de Scott Joplin que viene en la colección “Smithsonian Collection of Classic Jazz“).

Usualmente de estos discos ya casi nadie habla porque por lo general la atención está concentrada en los “14 cañonazos del año” en curso… para el 2007 los nuevos discos de Arcade Fire, Radiohead, Of Montreal,  LCD Soundsystem, Battles, Grinderman etc…  (de esos discos no voy a hablar… para eso ya están los reviews de “best of 2007″… gracias a los cuales me di cuenta que, efectivamente, yo solamente paso el tiempo escuchando viejeras. (estoy consiguiendo el de grinderman… “a ver que es la vaina…”)

La “viejera” de hoy es  Cuckooland de Robert Wyatt, publicado en el año 2003:

La mejor reseña para este disco es la siguente frase encontrada aquí: “[Cuckooland] is also one of the best recent examples of how jazz can be incorporated into other musics in a faithful and satisfying way.”

Mi canción favorita: Beware… que en términos de allmusic es lo siguiente:  “Others, such as “Beware,” one of a pair of writing collaborations with Karen Mantler — who contributed two more fine songs written for Wyatt’set — feature the strident harmonics of post-millennial jazz as it intersects in dialogue with pop forms from the ancient to the future.”

Por ahora no es más… seguiré en mi proceso de “update” 2007… gracias a los reviews… espero próximamente hablar sobre más “viejeras”.. ojalá de los 70’s….
